Friction stays and pegstays

Stainless steel friction stays for top-hung and casement sashes, plus window limiters that hold the sash at the open position. The catalogue prints the sash limits and the opening angle for each size, so the stay can be chosen from the window size and weight.

What this category covers

Friction stays and pegstays that carry and hold open casement, top-hung and curtain wall vents, in stainless steel. Photographs and figures on this page come from the AOHUALUN printed catalogue, and the catalogue pages are named with each table so a buyer can check them against an existing copy.

Models, codes and parameters

Codes are printed exactly as in the catalogue, so a repeat order can be matched line by line. Parameters are the ones the catalogue gives for each model; where the catalogue gives no figure, the cell is left out rather than estimated.

Friction stays OHL.HC-200 for top-hung sashes

A is 201 stainless steel and B is 304 stainless steel; the code names the material with the letter after the series. The assembly drawing in the catalogue gives the A to L dimensions of each stay.

Window limiters OHL.XWQ-10

Limiters hold a side-hung or top-hung window at the opening position. The catalogue gives the stay length L and the window width it suits.

Selection notes

What to check before ordering

These notes come from the catalogue pages named above and from the fitting information printed with the same family.

  • For a side-hung sash the friction stay should be at least two thirds of the window width; a light sash can go down to one half. For a top-hung sash the stay length is about half the window height.
  • When the stay is loaded it deflects elastically, so choose a total stay height 0.5–1 mm larger than the gap between sash and frame to keep the seal even when closed.
  • Stainless self-tapping screws ST4.2 / 4.8 are used with the stays, countersunk where the profile is countersunk and pan head elsewhere.
